mom for the week

A very special family at my church decided to take a small vacation to a bed and breakfast about an hour away from Orlando. They have two ADORABLE children (2 and 4 years old). They asked me if I would be ok watching the kids for three days while they went on a much needed time alone together for some rest, time to read and spend time together. I said "YES, of course!"

So the parents threw the car seats in my car and headed out of town...I had so much fun pretending to be a parent for three days, I took them on play dates with other families, the playground and my favorite..Chick-Fil-A...where I had to climb up the playground tubes to help the little 2 year old get to the top! I had alot of fun...but was definitely exhausted by the end of the week.

A few things I learned:
1) If you are a single parent my heart goes out to you, taking care of children is ALOT of work and makes it even harder with out another pair of hands to help you.
2) always, ALWAYS have snacks and water on hand.
3) leave plenty of time between dinner and bed time for a long bath...they have too much fun in the water and won't get out when you want them too!

Overall, I'm glad that I get these small glimses of what being a parent is going to really be like.
