NOLA Trip

We took a group of RUF students to New Orleans, LA (NOLA) to work with Redeemer Church helping with Hurricane Katrina Construction work. It is amazing that after so many years there is still so much work to be done in this wonderful city bursting with energy and love for their southeastern Louisiana culture.

I was AMAZED at the enthusiasm the students had in them to work....we scratched off old paint, primed and painted the exterior of a shot gun house in three days...Woah! The lady of the house has been displaced since hurricane Katrina, living with her son and very excited to be able to move back home! She even let us pick the color of her house....we went with Lavender Escape.

It is very true what they say...when you go to do mission work to serve, teach and help others many times it is usually YOU who receives all the learning and help. Families from the church opened their homes for us to stay in for 5 nights and many families and the church opened their homes to feed us numerous meals. I was blown away by the generosity and love that we received while we where there.....many of the students repeatedly said that THEY could NOT WAIT to one day be able to open their own homes for others and be able to give back the loved they had received.

OVERALL = one great trip!

Here we all are getting the job DONE!! Who Dat?!
